Doubling down for the SAIT Trojans on Giving Day
Tiffany Gordon gets it. She’s been there.
As a former SAIT Trojans athlete, she knows how integral it is for students to feel supported.
“I was fortunate to receive scholarships that made things easier, but not everyone gets the same opportunities,” she says.
Gordon is giving back in her own way now. The SAIT Trojans golf team she once starred for returned last season after a nearly 20-year hiatus from the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC). When head coach, Stephen Yanitski approached her to act as an advisor to the team, she jumped at the opportunity.
“It was an honour to be asked, no question,” says Gordon, who was the ACAC women’s individual golf champion in 1987, '88 and '89 and a 1990 graduate of SAIT’s Business Administration program. “I believe in the school and in what they do, and I know my experience in the business can help. We have scholarships to offer again, and we want to be able to continue to do that.
“We have to let people know that we’re out there and why it’s important they support not only the golf team but SAIT and SAIT Athletics as a whole."
Double your gift on SAIT Giving Day
SAIT Giving Day on October 16 offers two key ways to support SAIT athletics. Donations toward the Golf Simulator will help provide the Trojans golf team with a year-round accessible training simulator. And donations to the Adopt-A-Trojan fund can be directed to any Trojan’s team, helping them to purchase equipment, pay for travel expenses for tournaments and competitions, and other related expenses. Both funds are featured as Giving Day Challenges – offering the opportunity to double donations dollar-for-dollar on the day.
“The more our community gets behind SAIT, SAIT Athletics, the Trojans Golf team and the scholarship programs associated with them, they’ll see the benefit of it down the road — be it in the golf industry, sports, business, you name it,” says Gordon.

SAIT is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of Treaty 7 which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina and the Îyârhe Nakoda of Bearspaw, Chiniki and Goodstoney.
We are situated in an area the Blackfoot tribes traditionally called Moh’kinsstis, where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. We now call it the city of Calgary, which is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
